Fourth Annual Counter-Trafficking Awards Ceremony October 16, 2008

IOM’s Fourth Annual Counter-Trafficking Awards Ceremony will take place on October 16, 2008.

 The ceremony is to honour individuals and organizations that have distinguished themselves with dedication and courage in the fight against human trafficking. This phenomenon, among may other migration-related issues, is addressed by IOM globally.

At the ceremony, awards will be presented in the following four categories:

- For Bravery and Personal Contribution
- For Journalist Professionalism and Courage
- For Professionalism in Law-Enforcement
- For Assisting Victims of Trafficking

 Representatives of ministries, diplomatic circles, and NGOs will be present.

Keynote speaker: Ms. Elisabeth Rehn of Finland. Her distinguished career has included serving as a Member of the Finnish Parliament, Member of the European Partliament, Minister of Defence, and Minister of Equality Affairs in the Republic of Finland.
