MOBILIZING DIASPORA CIVIL SOCIETY FOR INTERNATIONAL DEVELOPMENT
The Golda Meir International Training Centre (MCTC), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Centre for International Cooperation (MASHAV), the International Organization for Migration (IOM), the Centre for International Migration and Integration (CIMI) are organizing a capacity building workshop for women leaders of diaspora associations called “Mobilizing Diaspora Civil Society for International Development”. The ten-day workshop will take place in Haifa (Israel) on 16-26 November, 2009.
This ten-day workshop aims to strengthen the capacity of migrant women to lead diaspora contributions and human and financial capital towards the development of their country and communities of origin. The workshop targets migrant women leaders of diaspora organizations in Europe, North America and other host countries who are active in projects to facilitate the socio-economic development of their origin countries, as well as the integration of their peers in their destination countries.
The workshop aims to enhance the professional capacity of women leaders active in diaspora associations, inspire and empower participants to develop and act upon their vision of diaspora partnerships for development, provide a forum and network for sharing experiences and best practices in mobilizing migrant women for country of origin development.
To apply to the workshop, please, provide 1) your CV or resume; 2) a description of yourdiaspora organization; 3) your role in the organization; 4) the projects and activities that you and your organization conduct in your country of origin; if relevant describe your integration activities; 5) the three biggest challenges you face in this work; 6) how do you hope to benefit from this training and how will you apply these skills to your work in the next 6-12 months.
The language of instruction will be English. Participant’s tuition and accommodation in Israel will be covered by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Centre for International Cooperation (MASHAV).
