If you have been contacted by the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and informed about the date of your departure to the United States, please find some relevant information below.
In response to the COVID-19 global health situation, you will encounter some new procedures during your pre-embarkation medical check and in transit on your way to the United States.
During your medical check, the IOM medical team will refer you to a laboratory to undergo a PCR COVID-19 test. You will not pay for this test.
Throughout the pre-departure activities and in transit, you may be asked several questions by the IOM medical team, IOM operations staff, government officials, as well as airline staff about whether you have had any symptoms associated with COVID-19, about results of any recent COVID-19 tests, and about contacts with other persons who tested positive or were suspected to have had COVID-19. Your body temperature will also be checked on various occasions.
Please answer questions truthfully for your health and safety, as well as the safety of those traveling with you and our staff.
If you test positive for COVID-19, or if you have any symptoms, or if you have been in recent contact with other persons who tested positive or are suspected to have had COVID-19 – you will be advised on next steps by the IOM medical team, and you will be referred to local healthcare providers and asked to follow national health guidelines. In these cases, your flight will be postponed by a minimum of 14 days.
Kindly note that a positive COVID-19 test result, or suspected exposure to COVID-19, will only involve a delay in travel, but it will not affect your eligibility for resettlement to the United States.
Please maintain a distance of two meters (six feet) whenever possible from other family groups, wear surgical or cloth face masks at all times, and regularly clean your hands with hand sanitizer or soap and water. Face masks are mandatory for children aged two years and above. At the airport, IOM will provide each applicant with two disposable face masks and a small hand sanitizer spray. We recommend you bring additional face masks with you, to be able to change them every few hours or as they become damp or soiled. Please maintain physical distancing and hygiene measures at all times: pre-departure, in transit, and after arrival in the United States.
If you have any questions prior to departure, you may contact RSC Eurasia on: email@example.com
If you have questions after arrival in the United States, you may ask your case worker from the Resettlement Agency.
